Judicial Offenders will Be Prosecuted in Court

In order to give deterrent effect and increase public awareness in obeying the rules, South Jakarta Administration will bring in the judicial offenders to the court. Two of the judicial offenses often happened in the municipality are littering and selling on social/public facilities.

For the trial, South Jakarta State Court will hold it twice a month

“Next year we’re planning to routinely hold raid against street vendors and people who throw trash haphazardly. For the trial, South Jakarta State Court will hold it twice a month,” stated Head of South Jakarta Satpol PP Operation and Law Enforcement Section, Bambang Budi, Saturday (11/29).

Actually, Budi continued, since early this year his party has often brought in judicial offenders to South Jakarta State Court to be processed. Unfortunately, the trial schedule is not routinely held due to there is no budget to pay the judges and prosecutors.

Later, the street vendors will be charged under Bylaw No. 8/2007 on Public Order, while those who littered will be charged under Bylaw No. 3/2013 on Trash Management.

“Especially for people who littered, they could be sanctioned to pay fine in a maximum of Rp 500 thousand,” he said.
